The Ching Emperor Kangxi disguises himself as a chivalrous hero and comes on an inspection tour to the Mountains of Five Boulders in the hope to find his father Shunzhi, who had left home years before to become a monk. Just at this time, a revolting general Wayne Ma also flee there and attempts to force Kangxi to cede the three southwestern provinces by kidnapping Shunzhi. Kangxi sees through the plot, and with the help of his ministers and generals, he drive an ingenious plan to wipe out all the rebels, thus smashing Wayne Ma's plot. While on his inspection tour, Kangxi rescues a monk whom he falls in love.
