During the Second World War, the Japanese occupied much of China and used the local people as forced labor or for their various pleasures. In one particular province, the Japanese were especially cruel to the Chinese who could not or would not leave their homes. Some of the locals formed a resistance front that worked behind the scenes to harass the Japanese occupiers.
